• Mudgee Museum
My first really wet day. To be fair, there has been rain around me – but before today I have been dodging it. I had a couple of mornings when there had been rain overnight, but this was the first rainy day. I woke up to pouring rain, so I decided not to take the walk into town, but to drive instead. The church service was quiet which is what I needed. Today I realised how tired I am – maybe I have bitten off more than I can chew. After the service I was talking to the locals including the vicar and his wife (ex-pats). They are doing something great here – a diocese wide series of recorded messages all based on hope. We should try that in the IoM churches!
Rain in Mudgee
After the service I went for a coffee. I think I have found the best system to pick a café – look for the fullest with a couple of seats free. If the locals go there, it must be good, right? After that, with the rain still falling, I went to the Mudgee museum. Like yesterday, it was a museum that needed about three times as much space to show off. As I left I was talking to some of the volunteers who run the museum, and they have recommended another museum for tomorrow which is on my way to my next stop.
Back into the centre of town for lunch. I had been scrolling on my phone for a while when I realised that I was still waiting for my meal. The staff were very apologetic – there had been a glitch in the ordering system and the kitchen hadn’t received my order. When it came it was a very good meal.
Back in the hotel, tiredness overcame me. I thought about going for a swim, but was just to weary – so I settled for a cup of tea and watching the rugby.
