đźš—Bathurst - Orange

📝 Day's Highlights

• Millthorpe
• Badlands brewery

Bathurst to Orange is about 60km. However, part of the point of this holiday is to get away from the direct route and see what else is here.

Before I left Bathurst I stopped at the Rockabilly Café. The music was good and so was the coffee. Then I played “what if I go there” with the satnav. Sometimes it works (Millthorpe was lovely) and sometimes it doesn’t (trying to get to a viewpoint down forest tracks). On balance, I think I came out ahead.

Orange (despite its name) is a very green city. After checking in I went for a walk through the various parks – Moulden Park, Elephant Park and Cook Park. There is something very soothing about walking among the trees. Even putting a hedge between me and the traffic softens the noise.

Enough of the walking – time for serious business. The Badlands brewery opened at 4, and I decided to spend a relaxing evening there. The beer was very good – though they don’t know how to pull a proper pint!
