On the Yarra River
As a break from the mayhem of Melbourne, I took a little excursion. First leg was a ride down the Yarra River to Williamstown – the original landing place. I got quite cold waiting for the boat, but once on board, the sun came out and it was much warmer moving than sitting still.
The Yarra is definitely a working river. Once you are out of the centre of Melbourne, it quickly changes from high-rises to marinas and then to working docks. Even at Williamstown, where there is a conservation area, there is also an oil terminal.

I did a lot of walking around Williamstown. Along the beach was refreshing in the sunshine, but as soon as I turned inland, it clouded over. Every time I looked at Melbourne, it seemed to be under cloud. After a good wander round, I had a burger then caught the train back to the big city.
Walking Williamstown
Late afternoon
Back in the city, I realised how tired I was. On the boat ride, they mentioned a First Nation cultural centre that was not far from the station, but I just didn’t have the energy (physical or mental) to absorb any more. So, it was back to the hotel for a beer then reading in my room.
Oh yes, and packing again…
