The end of the holiday.
After a poor-ish night's sleep on the 72nd floor, my last day in Australia started. We had breakfast, then took the CityCat catamaran ferry on the river. Just like Sydney, it seems so natural to use the river/harbour for transport. The CityCat can tie up, disembark and embark passengers, and be away within a few minutes.
From the river, I went to the Queensland Museum. I only wanted to see the aboriginal exhibit, which was good but left me wanting to know more about them. The bookshop we went to had a history of Australia since 1788, but almost nothing on aboriginal culture!
Lunch, then dropped at the airport at 3. Sad to say goodbye to Lane and David; they have been wonderful hosts and must have spent a small fortune in diesel alone, never mind accommodation and meals. I am sitting at the airport waiting for check-in to open.
OK, now I am in departures.
Time for a couple of confessions:
And finally, thank you to the lady in Australian Way. I was 50 cents short, but she let me buy what I wanted. That seems to sum up Australia.
Finally aboard at 10pm. Flying for hourd, but we are still over Australia - even after being there, I still can't come to terms with the scale of the place!
