April 29^th - Day 31 (part 1)

What is it about changing planes at Abu Dhabi? On my outward trip , we were delayed by technical issues. And on the way back...

The first flight was pretty good. I managed about 5 hours sleep, and was not too uncomfortable. Let loose in duty free, my credit card cried. I now own a Z5 Premium Dual, which should make trips to the UK easier. I am tempted by a watch as well.

The reason I am still being tempted is that the flight to Manchester is delayed by 'technical issues'. We are already 1 1/2 hours past boarding, and are waiting for an update at 1055. More later.

11:00 An update on the technical issues. Apparently, the two-track towing the plane stopped, but the plane didn't. The damage was at least a broken tow-rod and a punctured tyre on the plane. At leat we get some water. Unfortunately, because it is only a 3 1/2 hour delay there is no food. I am keeping the receipt because if I miss my flight this evening, I am going to claim meals, hotel and breakfast as additional costs incurred. The paper trail starts here!

This a long day anyway. Looks like Etihad are making it longer. Finally on the plane at 13:50. A lot of tired adults and fractious kids - it's going to be a long flight.
