β’ the Rocks
β’ lots of beer
When I planned my trip to Sydney, I was thinking about museums and photography. In the end, I found what I was looking for in the Rocks.
The Rocks is the site of the earliest settlement in Sydney. I donβt usually go for trendy places, but walking round the Rocks made me feel really relaxed. I had the same feeling last time I was here. It was also nice to be in a place which felt familiar.
First, I went to the Pylon Museum β set in one of the bridge pylons (obviously). It was interesting to see the Bridge from a different perspective. I even saw some of the climbers going up the upper arch β I am glad I went on the lower one as it looked terrifying!

I am guessing that the pub names reflect the era after the Napoloeonic Wars. On my way to the Lord Nelson I passed the Hero of Waterloo

From there I went to one of the places I promised myself to visit β the Lord Nelson brewery. Last time I was here I visited twice and am glad to report that the beer is still as good. One of the things I remembered was the Quayle Ale. While I was there, I chatted with a couple with a young baby β we had a really interesting conversation. Like me they are fond of good beer!

After that, I headed downhill to catch a tram at Circular Quay. On my way I found another brewery β and it would have been rude not to call in and sample their wares. The beer was equally good.
So back to my hotel. It is not working out too well as there are crying children in the next room and it is starting to do my head in!
