I am so glad to be up in the hills again. After the heat of Wagga Wagga, it is a relief to be in the cooler air.
To start with, I wasn’t quite sure what I had been missing. It was only when I was out walking this morning that it struck me – green grass! I have become so used to the parched fields over the last 3 weeks that to walk through the woods and see green grass was so refreshing.
Walking round Mt Gibraltar
As I said, I went for a walk this morning. There was another sign of how late in the autumn it is here – dew on the cars. I decided to walk around Mt Gibraltar. It was uphill from where I am, so I must have been over 2000ft up. I parked up at a lookout and decided to follow the signs for the Rim Trail. The signs instructed me not to leave the path. The problem was that sometimes the path left me! There were places where I had difficulty finding the path, especially when there was an area of bare rock. I managed it though and then completed the circuit. I tried to go higher up where there was an entrance, but the path petered out almost immediately, so I gave up.

Back at the hotel, I changed my shirt and went into town. After a stroll down the main street (Bong Bong Street would you believe?) I repaired to the Royal Hotel (|not the one on Atholl Street!) for a couple of beers and a pasta lunch.

Then back through town to sit outside the hotel and read until it became too cool. Autumn is passing here – sunset is before 6pm. When I came in I did some laundry then read, then went to bed.
