Well, I'm so tired of crying
But I'm out on the road again - Canned Heat "On the Road Again"

Ok, I wasn’t crying, but I was back on the road again. I thought about taking a detour leaving Bendigo, but I am glad I didn’t. The hotel didn’t serve cappuccino, so I picked a place on the road for a coffee break. The place I picked was Echuca, about 90km down the road. I am so glad I did! I could have spent a day there.

Echuca used to be a port on the Murray River. They have preserved a lot of the old buildings around the port, such as the Custom House. Yes, it was a bit touristy, but it was well done. I thought about buying a horseshoe, but I am already worrying about my luggage weight. I added something to my transport modes – a stagecoach. Just a quick ride, but it was worth it.

So true

Aussie humour!

Then back behind the wheel for a long drive. The biggest problem I have is boredom – sometimes you feel that you are not getting anywhere. Here the roads are straight (10 mile straights) and cars are infrequent. During this drive, I drove for about 20km without seeing another car.

Economy road?

Economy road?

During my drive I came across an interesting road. It was a single lane of tarmac with rough shoulders on either side - I thought of it as an "economy road". It was a main road, and (trust me) it was no fun meeting a twin-trailer truck. The dust was terrible!

I was glad to finally reach Wagga Wagga. I tried to use the sat-nav to find my hotel, but it tried to send me somewhere 450km away – we are having an on-going battle.

After all the driving, I was shattered, so once I had checked in I took a taxi to the Thirsty Crow brewery for dinner and a couple of beers.
