I have moved hotel.
After a bad night’s sleep, I went out for breakfast. I was so mentally exhausted after the hotel, my head was bursting. My next stop after breakfast was the information centre, who while not recommending anywhere, listed some alternatives. I found a room that is further outside town and further from the main road.
I spent the morning at the Gold Mining Museum. The first display gave a good history of the local goldfields, which included the history of how the gold was processed. There were also stories of the man who started the goldrush, and how Gympie saved Queensland.
Behind this display was a wide variety of buildings with an amazing choice of topics – from an old church to a military museum, from a schoolroom to steamrollers. The eclectic choice of topics was great. Not quite "all goods from cough mixtures to cables" - but not far off!

After lunch, I went back to my original hotel to pack up and move out. The staff seemed surprised that I was leaving, but even the time spent in the room sent my anxiety sky-high. When I got to my new hotel, I was shattered so I just stayed in my room. Tomorrow, I have decided to get out of town.
