At the cathedral I really struggled. The organ was too loud, the acoustics were terrible and the incense was overwhelming. By the end of the sermon, I broke and had to go outside. The helpers were wonderful – they arranged for anointing and for communion to be brought to me.

Afterwards I went back inside for a coffee. One of the ladies at the table was part of the accessibility committee so I was able to explain some of the difficulties I had had. It turned out that I was not alone – one lady said that she had no idea what the tune was for the second hymn (so I was not alone).

From there I went back to the hotel. After a quick change I caught a bus to the West End. I was looking for the Brisbane brewery but got distracted by the Catchment brewery. Isn’t life tough? After a pint, I checked Google Maps and found that I was only a short stagger from my original destination. In there I had a lovely pie & mash and some of the best beer I have found in Australia. After that, the day got a little hazy… (though I am pretty sure I went for a trip down the river)
