Yes, it's later. And yes, I am back in the Lord Nelson. Let me explain...
My plan for today was to do my harbour cruise, then go to the Australian Museum. The first part went well. It was a very enjoyable cruise; 2 1/4 hours with a very well informed live commentary. Here is a random collection of pictures from the cruise.
The lady doing it had to calm some people down as they were drowning her out. Anyway, I now know a lot more about Sydney than I did.
As it was Anzac weekend, parts of the Australian Navy was in port.
Before the tour, I met "Captain Cook". He advised me to go to the Sydney Tower Eye, which I did. I was planning to do the Skywalk, but got there just as they cancelled them because of the weather. A bit of a letdown, but I saw Sydney from above.
Matthew had suggested I went back to The Rocks. It is one of the oldest parts of Sydney, with Australia's oldest pub (the Fortune of War, established 1848) and oldest hotel (the Lord Nelson, founded in 1841) I liked the Rocks - it is full of footstreets, alleys, and doorways.
After all that walking, I felt the need of some sustenance. I made my way (oh do reluctantly!) back to the Lord Nelson, for pie and peas - mmmmm - and beer - double mmmmm.
Walked back to the station via the harbour. Rush hour trains in Sydney seem well used. The stations are busy but not jam-packed, and the same can be said about the trains. Back to West Pymble, for dinner at a very noisy pizza restaurant. The meal was spoilt by an over-salted pizza. The back home for another night on the floor.
