April 15^th - Day 17

A day of driving and filling in time. We had to check out of the unit by 10am, but David didn't land until 9pm. So we filled in time. Breakfast at Beaches was really good, although all this eating out is not good for my waistline. Then we drove down to Bangalow where we had coffee. After coffee, we drove to Lismore, stopping of on the way so Lane could see an old friend.

At Lismore, I visited the local museum. It was a very local affair, with a lot of Victoriana which I wasn't interested in. What was more interesting was the sections on the coastal shipping and the local aboriginal tribes. By looking at just the local tribes, it made it more interesting. There was even a link to what I learnt at the Cobb & Co museum, as the Lismore tribes attended the Bunya festival, which was held near Toowoomba.

After lunch in the Mecca Diner, a time capsule virtually unchanged for many years, we drove back to the Gold Coast, passing Nimbin Rocks (where we stopped) and Nimbin (where we didn't) - apparently, you can get cookies laced with marijuana there! We spent a few hours with Jenny and Ann. They went off with Lane to the Malaysian restaurant, while I went back to Beaches for a steak sandwich. Picked up David on time, then a long drive back home. We were all shattered!

PS. The people naming places in Australia must have founf ity very intimidating. In the last few days I have been to Danger Point and Mount Warning!
