I woke up somewhere over somewhere.
I guess there were about 7 hours to go when I woke. I really can’t remember anything about the flight, except there were two very friendly ladies sitting next to me. I think they were German, but I am not sure. By this time, I was really tired and disorientated, especially with the time zones. I got on the plane in the dark, and we had flown right through the day so that it was dark when we landed. It must be the shortest day I have had!
We reached Brisbane airport an hour late. I was stopped to be sniffed by the drug dog because I was bringing in medication. Lane and David were waiting for me. My first impression was how warm it was for 10 o’clock at night.
It was a long journey home. It took ages to get out of Brisbane, with its maze of motorways, tunnels and overpasses. Eventually, we were out of the city, passing a distance sign with "Darwin 3400" on it. And I thought it was a long way to Ramsey!!
‘Home’, cup of tea, bed.
